I watched this documentary last night at the Borough Common as part of a social action themed month and to coincide with International Women’s Day. It follows events in Liberia back in 2003 when it fell into a messy civil war and how a small band of courageous women got together and campaigned for peace.

Their message was simple and their determination inspirational. Their campaign not only made the peace talks happen, but ensured they were completed and helped the country to recover from the tragedy of war. Liberia now has the first and only elected female head of state in Africa, Ellen Sirleaf. Highly recommended.
